A Comprehensive Review of Researches on Li Jieren's "Great River Novels": Narrative Characteristics, Cultural Connotations and Translational Studies

| Abstract: | Since the early 20th century, Li Jieren and his “Great River Novels” have attracted the attention of many scholars and achieved a wealth of research findings. This paper systematically reviews the existing literature on Li Jieren’s Great River Novels, identifying three primary dimensions of scholarly inquiry: literary narrative characteristics, cultural implications, and translation studies. However, current research in translation studies has primarily concentrated on the linguistic transformation of translations and the analysis of translation strategies, while discussions on translation outcomes, acceptance in the target context, and the reconstruction of cultural information remain relatively scarce. Therefore, future research could further expand the breadth and depth of translation studies to promote the dissemination of the “Great River Novels” in an international context and enhance the global influence of Bashu culture. |
