| Abstract: | Objective: To report the primary response to chemoradiotherapy induced dermatitis and/or oral mucositis. Methods: In this prospective cohort, 37 patients who underwent concurrently or sequentially chemotherapy and/or anti-cancer drug therapy received personalized multiple plant oil treatment when they suffered the dermatitis and/or oral mucositis. The grade of toxicities and the recovery was evaluated with the criteria of Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) 5.0. Results: For all the patients, the median age was 51.5 and the male was 26 patients (70.3%). 14 (37.8%) and 8 (21.6%) patients respectively received chemotherapy and radiotherapy alone, and 15 (40.5%) had chemoradiotherapy. Head and neck, gastrointestinal, breast and the other cancer were 15 (40.5%), 13 (35.1%), 15 (40.5%), 6 (16.2%) and 3 (8.1%) respectively. Three and 11 patients suffered grade 3 and 2 radiation induced dermatitis respectively. Seven, five and seven patients did grade 3, 2 and 1 of oral mucositis respectively. Three and five patients had grade 3 and 2 of hand and foot syndrome. For dermatitis, oral mucositis, hand and foot syndrome, the median recovery time was 5, 5-10 and 8-10 days. Conclusion: For patients suffering from the chemoradiotherapy induced skin and/or mucosal toxicities, the multiple plant oils could be effective. All the patients tolerate well and the median recovery time were 5-10 days. |
