| Abstract: | In the context of China's cultural "going out" strategy, the translation of excellent traditional Chinese culture for external promotion have become increasingly important. As a significant component of this rich heritage, Yunnan's minority tea customs, particularly those of the Yi people, the Limi, have garnered significant international attention due to their uniqueness, ethnic character, and ecological significance. The English translation of Limi tea customs plays a crucial role in the preservation and dissemination of these minority cultures. This paper, based on the "Three guidelines in external publicity", selects typical examples from the Limi people's tea customs in Yunnan, including the name and production process of the tea product "Bamboo Slips Thunder Sound Tea," the "Three Teas and Six Rites" in wedding ceremonies and their meanings, as well as tea ancestor worship rituals. Through comparative analysis, case studies, and other methods, the paper explores the characteristics, issues, and solutions for the English translation of Limi people's tea customs. The research results indicate that the Limi people's tea customs are worthy of further exploration and study. There should be greater emphasis on the translation of tea folk customs to enhance their status and influence in international exchanges. By adopting appropriate translation strategies and methods, the Limi people's tea customs can be effectively introduced to international audiences, thereby promoting the preservation and dissemination of minority cultures. This study provides valuable references and insights for external publicity work related to minority cultures, offering theoretical support and practical guidance for the further advancement of the international dissemination of China's minority cultures. |
