| Abstract: | The ancient tea forest landscape of Jingmai Mountain in Pu'er, recognized for its unparalleled role in the global tea cultural heritage, was officially inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List on September 17, 2023. This international acknowledgment underscores the profound value of Pu'er tea culture and opens a new avenue for exploring its international communication strategies. The research probes into the international dissemination strategies of Pu'er tea culture, with a particular focus on English translation methods that enhance cross-cultural understanding and exchange. Anchored in ecological translation theory and guided by the principle of "translator's adaptive selection", the research employs a comprehensive array of strategies, including source/target language ecological alignment, deconstruction and re-presentation, and environmental enrichment, to systematically investigate a spectrum of translation techniques such as literal translation, transliteration, interpretative translation, annotation, and amplification. The findings reveal that the nuanced application of these techniques can foster an ecological equilibrium between the source text and its translation, effectively advancing the global reach of Pu'er tea culture. The research not only bridges the gap in English translation studies of Pu'er tea but also lays a theoretical foundation and provides practical guidelines for the global promotion of Chinese tea culture, holding substantial academic and practical significance. It introduces a novel perspective for cross-cultural communication and the perpetuation of tea culture. The study emphasizes the importance of protecting and disseminating local cultural heritage in the context of globalization and highlights the pivotal role of translation in cultural heritage preservation. |
