| Abstract: | Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. Among these patients infected with the virus, metabolic syndrome is the most common. Metabolic syndrome refers to the pathological state of various metabolic disorders in the body, which is commonly manifested as one or more symptoms such as obesity, hypertension and hyperglycemia. This article collects relevant research literature on COVID-19 patients with metabolic syndrome at home and abroad from 2020 to 2023, and reviews the epidemiological characteristics of COVID-19 patients with obesity, hypertension, hyperglycemia and other metabolic syndromes and the possible mechanism of COVID-19 susceptibility in patients with metabolic syndrome. The specific mechanism is not clear, mainly involving a series of pathways such as angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 and pro-inflammatory cytokines. It is found that patients with COVID-19 combined with metabolic syndrome have poor prognosis and increased risk of death, which has a great impact on the treatment and medication of patients. It is proposed that attention should be paid to the research on the treatment and prognosis of patients with COVID-19 complicated with metabolic syndrome, and relevant research should be carried out in depth. At the same time, it provides relevant theoretical reference for the treatment and management of patients with COVID-19 complicated with metabolic syndrome. |
